Every Friday, I watch, Bill Maher's, Real Time. He's always a little left of ME, if that's possible. I mean, he's a Vegan. And doesn't trust medicine. I won't dignify his position by calling what's keeping ME alive right now, "Western Medicine". We here in the west do, in fact have a Monopoly on the Truth when it comes to medicine. If you think you're Chinese doctor can put needles into you and prescribe rocks for your intestinal problems? You're a fucking idiot.
You go to a Chiropractor, or Homeopath to get cured? Of anything? You're a fucking idiot.
I have SO many friends who love their Chiropractor. They swear it makes them feel better for a while, at least. So would a good massage. With a happy ending
Bill believes that smoking dope is a good thing. And I don't disagree. I'm not sure it's going to cure every problem HE thinks it will. But what the fuck, let it be legal, and we shall see.
I smoked it a few times in the 70's because everyone I hung out with was. Always just made me sleepy. So I never, "got" it. Got the same effect from three glasses of any white wine. And no one was putting me in jail for, "possession of white wine".
Made it easy to avoid dope.
But what, Bill says about religion is right on the money. And I'm going to get shit for this. From my Mormon friends (but not my MORMON wife. She's now so blind, she can't read my blog, and just hopes I'll take care of her. I made the promise. Relax. Took the vow. Meant it. Will LIVE it. End of story).
Mormonism is so crazy that Tom Cruise WOULDN'T join it, but GLEN BECK, WOULD!
Nuff said.

Glenn Beck And Guillotines. How Crazy Does The Right Have To Get?
Glenn Beck today said that the protests on Wall Street could lead to revolution, and in one report, guillotines! Was this man actually saying that the Left Wing would hold public executions of Wall Street criminals like they did in France? Well, if the shoe fits... Kidding. We want the Wall Street Pirates to go to jail, not hell. Just yet.
This is so crazy. When the SMART, educated people show up to protest, with NO weapons, and have a compelling argument about the top 1% or the richest 400 people in the country, owning MOST of the wealth in this country, it is a short step to Mao, or guillotines.
When a bunch of crazy, uneducated, idiots who think the President is a Muslim from Kenya, show up at Presidential speeches, carrying assault rifles and wearing handguns? THOSE people are Patriots!
WTF? Really?
And now, Rick Perry has refused to kick the ass of his preacher friend who is hating on Mitt Romney for being a Mormon. Mormons are a cult? Well, so IS EVERY OTHER RELIGION! As a Sociology Major, I remember the definition of a, "cult" was a group who had a charismatic leader who claimed that they had the ONLY way to heaven. Mormons, Scientologists, Catholics and Baptists all meet THOSE requirements.
But, Mormons, here's where you need to pay attention. All those other groups, ONLY hate YOU! Yeah, you don't like a woman's right to choose her own health care. You don't like Gay's having rights. But if you really think about it? The Dem's are the only one's NOT kicking your ass about whether or not you're a Christian church! Because we don't care! You can define yourself as anything you want. But you still throw your votes to the guys who hate you.
That's crazy.
And if you don't make $250K a year, you're also voting for people who want YOU to pay for what THEY want. Tax breaks for the rich, subsidies for oil companies, tax breaks for corporate jet owners. And YOU'RE BUYING IT! WTF!? If you're not rich and you're voting for Republicans? You're voting against your own self interest!
If you WORK for a LIVING. If you depend on a paycheck from someone else. If you are NOT rich? You're a Democrat! Whether you know it or not. It's the party that is accepting of YOUR religion!
And you need to be in a Union. If you're not? And you work for a living? You're not living right.
Now, quit listening to that idiot, Glenn Beck. And start paying attention.

Oh, What A Tangled Web We Weave, When Trying To Get BCS Status Like Utah
NEWSFLASH! TCU will accept an offer to join the Big 12 and bail out of both the Mountain West AND the Big East to stay home and fight the good fight for recruits and Bowl Games at home in Texas. Who couldn't see THAT coming for the last month.
Except the Cougars.
Now, Texas A&M, who hates, Texas, gets to bail out for the SEC. The Big 12 replaces them with TCU. Missouri has to be thinking twice about bailing out of the Big 12, since no one outside of, oh, I don't know, Missouri? Gives a shit about THEM! And they don't have enough votes to get into that conference, according to ESPN tonight.
Who's happy here? Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State, who will not have to beg to be taken into the Mountain West Conference when the Big 12 collapses.
Who's not happy?
Well, right now, SMU, who's been winning and SHOULD be invited to be in the Big 12 since they were a Southwest Conference team with the rest of THOSE teams until they cheated so bad the NCAA couldn't ignore it anymore.
Any one left in the Big East. They are going to tip over really fast. They might get a few more teams so they can keep playing football, but they will lose their AQ status with the BCS.
And BYU. Because they blew it. They shot themselves in the head last summer when they went independent.
There are two Scnerios that could unfold here. Both screw the Cougars. The Big East could decide to take the service academy's. All THREE of them. Yeah, I know, AFA in the Big EAST? But they have two natural TV rivals. And it expands THEIR TV market. They stay a BCS conference (which is a joke. They suck) and the Cougars don't get invited to join the Big 12 OR Big East because neither of them needs them.
Secondly, the Big East folds. West Virginia, Louisville land in BCS conferences. Cincinnati, South Florida, Connecticut? Not so much.
And the BCS has to have another AQ conference. Well? Hello, Mountain West! Utah invented BCS busting. Did it twice. And now that they have Boise State and Hawaii, Nevada and Fresno they have another BCS Bowl winner and expand the BCS into the Mountain Time Zone and Nevada which is the fastest growing state in the Union.
Sorry I left you out New Mexico and Fresno but lets face it. No one gives a shit about you. You're just along for the ride. Enjoy it. Call Washington State to see how to deal with it.
I mean, CSU, AFA and even Wyoming will get you ON a channel in the Denver Market. Fresno and ANYWHERE in New Mexico? Not so much.
And when this happens, the MWC gets a BCS AQ! Whos going to be left out? That School Down South.
They will no longer be a part of the MWC. And if they come crawling back on their hands and knees, the MWC should put a knee in their mouth!
Or just get UNLV to, "hit" them. Got a roll of carpet and a pick up truck? I can take care of that for ya...
There is another possible scenario I hadn't thought about until just now. The Big 12 takes TCU, SMU and maybe, Houston? And goes back to 12 teams and mostly a former SWC line up and doesn't invite, tsds.
Since they fougth so hard to NOT have to take Baylor when they broke up the SWC and formed the Big 12, and HAD to take them or the Texas Governor wouldn't have let it happen, how would they justify taking Texas CHRISTIAN University, and, Southern METHODIST University back into the fold?
Well, easy. The Texas Governor is running as a Republican for President. And his base is Southern Christians. And they don't like Mormons. So he won't let the Mormons join HIS conference. Not in an election year.
So, tsds, the message you should take away from this whole thing, if it works out the way I THINK it will for you, is, "The Big 12 will take, "Church Schools" if we have to. Just not YOUR church."
Southern, Christian, Republicans. They HATE you! Why do you keep voting for them?

Countdown Get's Lazy, Becomes Faux News
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I intend to call BS on both sides when it comes to politics. And especially REPORTING on any thing that's political.
I'm a Keith Olbermann fan. Love his show, and for the most part hold the same political views. And I agree with the folks occupying Wall Street right now. If anyone around here is trying to take THEIR country back, it's those folks, and the Unions who have thrown their support behind them.
That being said, you really need to get your facts straight.
Tonight, October 5, the last 15 minutes or so the show were devoted to a group of these folks who left the park and tried to work their way up Wall Street. They didn't make it. The New York Police started arresting them.
According to Olbermann's guest, J. A. Myerson of ALTHERNET.org, the police had set pretty clear limits for the demonstration and, "They knew they could get arrested" when they did it. But they did it anyway. So where's the outrage coming from that the Police were true to their work
Mr. Myerson asserted that the Police were spraying people with, "The horrible toxin, pepper spray". Oleo Resin Capsicum is a totally natural substance made entirely of, and I know this will surprise you, PEPPERS! Even the propellant used to shoot it out, which was originally alcohol, is now water.
It is nothing more than a concentration of some of the hottest peppers in the world. The kind you grow in your garden to make salsa with every fall. And even if you do NOTHING to get it off of your face, it will quit burning you in 45 minutes and leave no lasting marks. And every police department in the world is trained to offer, "decontamination" when the arrested is cooperative. This involves the Fire Department using saline, to wash it off of you face.
So quit making it sound worse than it is. It sucks, but it's not toxic.
Next, Mr. Myerson asserted, "That there are reports of protesters being hit in the head with batons..." Nope. Not going to happen for several reasons. And I'm going to assume here, that the New York City Police Department undergoes baton training that's at LEAST as comprehensive as I got.
First, every baton class for every rookie or old vet that has to recertify every few years starts with the admonition to, NEVER AIM FOR THE HEAD! First and foremost, it's dangerous. You can kill someone with a blow to the head. It's also too easy to defend a blow to the head with your hands and arms.
A baton is an impact weapon to be used WAY down the force continuum from deadly force. It's designed to be used on large muscle groups to make it tough for the guy who's fighting with you to keep fighting, and give up because he can't raise his arms or kick you with his legs, because they hurt too much.
And this is part of the training, too. Don't do it because it looks bad. Yes Public Relations is part of Police training too.
I never had to hit anyone in all the years I carried one. Simply pulling it out stopped the fight every time. But I've heard other officers say that the guys they tried to arrest never seemed to feel it hit them until the next morning. I got that.
And lastly, I have to give my, "Most Faux Like Comment" to Keith himself. It appears that the NYPD had brought out the horses to help with crowd control. He said, "A horse in a crowd is extraordinarily dangerous and potent weapon." Well, isn't THAT a bit inflammatory?
I guess that animal could be, if ridden by Egyptian Defense Forces trying to knock the block off any one talking smack against the current dictator. But in this situation, it is the most effective means for officers to see over crowds, control large groups of people, separate combatants in fights, and for the mounted officers to direct other officers to places where they are really needed! In a word, they are THE most effective crowd control tool the Cops have at their disposal!
So, Keith? I'm still a fan, but you guys blew it tonight. And I sentence you to go back and watch every episode of, "COPS: Madri Gras" ever recorded before you start calling horses in crowds, "extraordinarily dangerous".

Prohibition
I've been watching, "Prohibition" the last two nights on PBS. The new documentary by Ken Burns. I like to think, that with a sociology degree, I KNOW about group think, and the social movements in this country. and in most cases I DO! My education at the, "U" was good.
But I had NO idea how much the prohibition movement was related to racism, and German hating when the first World War started and all the beer was being brewed by the German immigrants.
Did you know that when WWI started, Americans started calling,, Sauerkraut, "Liberty Cabbage"? Kind of sounds like 2002 when French Fry's were renamed, "Freedom Fry's" in the Congressional Cafeteria.
If we cannot remember the past, we are doomed to repeat it! And we have learned nothing from it!
It's the same thing we are doing with our, "War on drugs". If the Government denies you access to something? A criminal element will spring up to provide it. History proves it.
So, legalize drugs and tax the sales, and you end the budget deficit and quit spending money on unenforceable laws. Empty the prisons. And life would be better here.
And you think I'M CRAZY? No I'm not. I spent 23 years as a soldier in the drug war. Trust me, we lost.

Cancer Sucks So Much
Wednesday, I have to have the same surgery I had in August, to make sure they got everything. So they will shove another scope up my penis and remove anything that looks like cancer. Guys, I can not TELL you how much this sucks. It's the worst possible thing you can have done to you.
So don't smoke and don't spend anytime in a meth lab, and you might avoid this.
But if you start to pee blood, for no reason related to getting punched in the kidney's? You best go see your doctor. This process sucks, but it beats dying. Trust me.
This is a public service announcement.

Four Weeks Of Football. Let's Review.
Hell yeah I'm disappointed my Utes didn't win tonight. I'm disappointed every time they don't win. I have a degree from that school, so I live and die with their sports teams. The debate team doesn't get a lot of press coverage.
But lets look at what we have here, even in the wreckage of a home loss to Washington. We're in the PAC 12, and we've been trying to get there for 20 years. Now that it's happened, we had a pretty good shot to do well and get into, dare I say it, a Rose Bowl. And at this point still do. But would going 8-4, or even 6-6 in THIS league be a terrible thing compared with winning the Mountain West Conference at 12-0, and not having a shot in hell at a National Championship? Has everyone forgotten that we had the best college football team in the country in 2004 and 2008 and didn't get voted number 1 because we were not considered worthy?
The PAC 12 patch on the jersey just made us, "WORTHY"! The next time we go 13-0, we get the crystal trophy. No other school, in any league we have been part of since 1978 can say that right now. Yes, I'm talking to you, BYU (just as an aside, I love it when I click on, "ignore" when the spell check doesn't recognize, BYU and doesn't offer an alternative. Seems so, appropriate). Down there in Provo, where it's always 1984, and you think anyone outside of THIS state gives a damn about you. You are not NOW, nor will you ever be, Notre Dame. Give it up.
Let's say we go 6-6. Have a bad year, by our recent standards. After all, it appears our starting quarterback is seriously injured again. With USC being ineligible for a Bowl Game? We could still go to the Bowl Game in San Francisco! My wife, if she had her way, would want them to go to THAT Bowl Game EVERY YEAR! She grew up in the Bay Area, and likes to go back every chance she gets.
We still have a shot at the Las Vegas Bowl! You have two conference losses in the MWC, and you won't be playing in THAT game.
Let's say a miracle happens, and the back up quarterback proves to be awesome and we win ALL the rest of our games in the regular season. We go to the PAC 12 Championship Game, and the worst that can happen is The Holiday Bowl in San Diego. AFTER Christmas. In prime time. On ESPN.
If Utah State wins all the rest of their games? They MIGHT get to the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise. If BYU wins the rest of their games, or even if they don't and only total six wins against the weak assed schedule they have left, they are going to the Armed Forces Bowl.
So anyone who's complaining about our current situation, isn't looking at the big picture, and isn't paying attention. We are doing pretty well, all things considered, in light of the way the conferences are shaking up right now. We got into the right conference, at the right time. And we should thank our lucky stars for it.
Will I ALWAYS be happy to look forward to an 8-4 season? Hell no! In four or five years, if we aren't a real competitor for a conference title and a Rose Bowl every year? I'm going to be pissed. But go look up how long it took either school from Arizona to end up in a Rose Bowl after they joined the PAC 8 to make it the PAC 10 in 1978. And I'll bet you dollars to donuts that we do it quicker than either of them did.
And I'm not liking all the hating on Jordan Wynn. We have a history for recruiting folks who didn't exactly set the world on fire, or were, "China Dolls" in their first or second year here, but worked out in the end. Anyone remember a running back named Asiata that took three years to play two because of his injuries? He ended up working out pretty well.
And if you think he's not as tough as he should be? If you're not playing Division 1 football, you need to shut your pie hole. I would have LOVED the opportunity to get INJURED in a Division 1 football game! I was so slow they timed my, "forties" with a calender instead of a stop watch, so my football career ended in high school. Human bodies can only take so much, and he's been willing to put his on the line for OUR school. So, let's give him the benefit of the doubt.
My friend, Todd who's a BYU fan has had a BALL this evening, posting stuff in FB about how there is now an Arby's in SLC offering free turnovers for Ute tickets. He's a funny guy.
But the fact is, the Arbys photo we all saw from Provo was REAL, and he's just making this shit up to be funny. And they can't AFFORD our turnovers, since they are BCS turnovers, and, "That School Down South", and their fans don't have THAT kind of money. They are way too expensive. And much more tasty when they come at the end of the year, served in the tailgate lot of a BCS Bowl Game they will never, ever see.
So, Ute fans, if you think you should be disappointed at this stage of the season? Think again. Yeah, we all want to go undefeated. People in hell want ice water. How does it feel to want? You should be happy to be where you are, and strive to make us better in the future. Write those checks to, The Crimson Club. Buy your season tickets, even if you can't use them all the time (and I'm the Poster Child for that after the cancer surgery, trust me). Buy the Bowl Tickets, even if you have to give them away. Being a big time college football fan is like being a political donor. You give the money up front, even if you don't know if your candidate is going to win. You might never get it back, but you might do some good!
This is how you help. Not by painting your face and posting on Face book that you are pissed about losing! Keep supporting the team, and we WILL end up doing well. Patience, Grasshopper.
Yeah, I know. Some of you are thinking, Yoda here at my, Grasshopper reference: "TRY NOT! DO, or DO NOT!" But it's a whole new ball game now that we are in this conference. Give it some time. And allow a TRY, without expecting to win EVERY time.
We are, using another movie reference, the, "rich kids camp" from, Meatballs, compared to the other schools in this state, and the conference we USED to be in. And right now, they are saying, "Even if we play SO far above our heads, that our noses bleed for a week to ten days, the rich kids will get all the girls!" And they are SO right. Enjoy where you are. We've been in, "worse than this" for many, many years. I like having a shot a whole lot more than NEVER having a shot.
But lets look at what we have here, even in the wreckage of a home loss to Washington. We're in the PAC 12, and we've been trying to get there for 20 years.
